My headlights are falling out on my LJ50. The rubber grommets are missing and the buckets are cracked.

Are the LJ80 or LJ80-2 stockman ones the same?

And how are the the lights retained? is it just by those little bits of rubber?

LJ50 and 80 are the same plastic buckets. The sealed beam unit is retained by a stainless steel ring that is screwed onto the plastic bucket. The bucket is held to the grille panel by screws that go into the rubber thingos and expand them to grip the panel.

The LJ80 Stocman has better all steel buckets which are less likely to get brittle and crack like the plastic ones do, but after all these years are probably just as prone to rust now.

You can get both for sierras and lj's and many other things just depends what you want.

Bonus with lamp holders is you can fit HID's 8)
