just ditch it... my damper died so i took it off temporarily, then realised the steering felt lighter (better) and noticed no other difference when driving, even offroad the bump steer is the same. Save yourself the cash of fixing it IMO. |

wheel bearings, wheel balance and alignment, check your bushes on the springs, check u-bolts are tight, check driveshaft unis for play.... |

Thanks for the help have replaced all suspension and bushes with quality gear,will look at front end again can see no sine of movement last time i looked but will check further.. A bump in the road triggers the wobble. |

If you havent had the steering king pins and swivel seals done anytime recently there is a good place to start, making sure the bearings are set by the manual, not just a bit of a feel and a she'll be right make sure all teh bolts and nuts in teh suspension are tight as well |

make sure all teh bolts and nuts in teh suspension are tight as well  X20
dampener's were fitted for a reason, if your car's std ( your car is not Mr alien) then it's best to keep it there.. Check the extended & compressed length's against the distance between mounting point's to, your "new" one may of been wrongly boxed. Also look for missing bolt's on the swivel hub seal's, as they are your steering stopper's. |

Sometimes the drag links become " elastic " with age, big tyres, lifts, rim offsets etc. They are quite flimsy stock. You can see them buckle durung the death wobbles, if you watch from the front (not easy with out help  )
Obviously check all steering and front end parts, too. |

I was attaching that to a post in another thread and backed out cause I figured it wasnt worth the effort cause you cant tell some people, must of decided to stick here instead

I put an Old Man Emu damper on my Sierra and never had a problem ever after. Never got around to refitting it when I put power steering in. Guess it wasn't needed, so never bothered. |

My shit liked to bump steer for the short time I didnt have a steering dampner fitted. Id prefer to keep it.. Fresh wheel bearings, king pins seals and what not made not noticable effect so i dont think there was an issue there causeing bump steer. I do run more toe in now to make it easier to drive. Are the repairs on the bracket strong enough? |

Im assuming because some lifted leafs have a large arc and a closer eye-eye measurement when standing than stock, thus decreasing the shackle angle and therefore decreasing the overall castor. Dan |

my point exactly... i was questioning if he was running something like the calmini lift etc which changes the pinion angle a fair bit, causing potential driveshaft vibes and possibly a caster issue that accentuates minor vibrations. |

different shackle length / shackle reversal tips the spring on an angle and rotates the diff. |

no it doesnt, its the exact reason they have them big fangs out the front, the rear print eye is lowered from the additional shackle in there so the front is lowered the same amount plus takes into account the shackle that was once there the only way youll change castor in a leaf spring is if the mounting pin is a long way off the centre of the leaf and you arch the crap out of it so the mount is on more of a slope, you just cant do this on a sierra its too close to central, ive even tried adding more arch into a spring on one side to adjsut from longer shackles, doesnt work you get next to no change in castor |

You are correct in saying the arc in the leaf alone will do nothing castor-wise as the locating pin is near central. smokey: What actual suspension setup are you running and what other mods do you have on your vehicle? You got any pics of this mount breaking off? |
