have called a few places and got various quotes so I thought I'd ask the people who have had experience.

Where have you gone to get your engine recon'd?
Did they do a good job?
and, would you recommened them

theyre not the cheapest but i think theyre the best, and they offer warranty and genuine parts (seals etc).

I've seen many rebuilds from both major suzuki shops in Perth that were less than satisfactory...

as much as i like the guys at suzistore i would have to say there are better reconditioners out there, try jim maddington head factory they have built a couple of turbo motors for me that have held together really well with loads of abuse and they were cheap.

NOR, Veale reconditioners outsource all their work to precision engineering, wherever that is.

There's a nice old bloke in Wangara off Prindiville Rd with a heap of vintage cars out front - can't remember his shop name, but i'm gonna get him to do all my work.

Yep, he he, i would say there is about 50 of us now... alot of new Perth members are pretty quiet here, but there is about 20 of us that are very active here in AZ !

hey guys,, have been reading , im from perth and i was wanting to know a few things about recons.. i am looking at getting my suzuki sierra 1989 recond.. i just wanted to know is it worth while spending the money on doing it?? also do use know much about changing the normal carby to EFI??

if you can afford to do it, change to 1.6EFI - it costs a bit more compared to a straight recondition (like, double) but soooooo much nicer to drive.

yeah in perth.. where is good places to get quotes from.. I have been given a quote from the suzuki store.. but i didnt know if there are better places to have it done at ?? how exactly does the EFI make a difference to the normal carby??

IMO, Suzistore is the best place to get it done, they do them a fair bit, and do a very good job !

There is a dodgy operator who does them too, but there is a pic floating around AZ somewhere of the guys handy/dodgy work...

the difference is chalk and cheese... the efi system is better in every way. I've had a 1.6 carby engine then converted to 1.6 efi and its like the difference between the 1.3 and 1.6 all over again.

the suzuki shop cannington does them for around 4.5k
there are a few non facts getting around about them but pete is
a top bloke and my last car had one of his conversions it was faultless
u just have to specify what u want and realise the cheaper u try to get it the
less attention to detail is spent on it
