Post subject:  -28 offset rims will they fit a 1990 Sierra hardtop?
Hi gmy brother inlaw is looking at getting some rims and tyres and need to know whether they will fit a 1990 Hardtop Sierra, it has a 2" body lift and 2" suspension lift.

Anyone who is running -28 offset rims that knows some good info like wether he will need to massage the guards etc please let me know. It has probably come up before but i cant find anything and i need an answer ASAP please post pics and list the downsides if any.

Depends on how big the tyres are... Ive got -28 on mine... People also reckon they kill bearings, but if there set up right you should get quite a few kays out of them.

Sorry mate the tyres are 31" how do you mean set up right?

Are they much different to -23 Offset rims?

5mm.

I wouldnt bother buying new ones while those ones are brand new.

No mate it's not for me its for my Brother inlaw, is that what you mean?

Do you mean 5mm away from the Springs? So they would be out towards the flares?

Greased properly, and the front wheel bearings set to the correct torque setting. I did mine by feel but someone on here should know how to set em up proper, or have a look at the service manual.
Mite need bumpstop spacers or a guard massage to fit those tyres depending on how well the springs flex. Been -28 you shouldnt have issues with tyres hitting springs, depends on how wide they are.



These are 15x8 -28 with a 31x10.5. Needed 75mm flare extension

Ah okay.
The will be offset 5mm more than the -23. So in comparison to your rims, they will stick out 5mm more.

That 5mm difference will be pretty much negligable given the difference in tire widths. You'd be fine with the larger bushwhacker flares.

Also, while larger offset rims might cause a bit of excess wear, driving in mud will fuck them 10billion times quicker

Also also, I've got 40mm spring lift and 2pm body lift and still scrubbed at full compression. If you don't massage the inside of the guards, you'll risk chopping some mean chunks off your tires.
