I have carbys, an when I put on the lights, or the heater fan, the revs go up to around 15-1,700.

3,000 is pretty excessive.

Mate has EFI, and no change of revs with lights or fan.

Not sure what it's call but it's on your carby
When you turn your lights on the car revs a bit more for the lights
It's the same on a car when u press the a/c button the car idles up to run the compressor
It's got to do with the switch on the front of the carby
Sorry I cant help you any more than that
Some one will come along nd tell you exactly wats wrong

On the front of the carby there is a vacuum actuator switched via the park light circuit that pulls on the throttle so the idle doesn't drop when your lights or a/c are on. Look at the front of the carby while someone is turning lights on and off and re-adjust the arm that moves, to get only a small amount of idle-up happening.

This might help. http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=317509

It's called idle up.
On the front of the carby the is a solonoid with a black rubber boot. When you turn the lights on the soloniod opens and pushes the bolt thats connected to the carby.
Run the car, turn the lights on and adjust the bolt to decrease the idle.

Can anyone confirm that the sierra set up is the same as the vitara? My idle up doesnt work at all.

If it's the carby engine it should be very similar To the Sierra carby
