I'm chasing a new roof rack for the Vitara. I have seen a few blokes on here run the rola racks. I am after the rola rack without rails(quick connect) and that sits nice and low so I can put the votex basket ontop. I have searched like all shit to no avail.

If someone could please point me in the right direction of product number it would be great. Also where I could purchase the rola rack and how much I should expect to pay?

It would work out cheaper to go with the rails. Mainly because they're universal and you'd be able to get the rails from the wreckers and the bars off ebay. Don't be scared of drilling you roof, you have to fill it with sikaflex anyways, so no water will get in. I put a piece of elecy tape on the drill bit to prevent it going in too far. Have a look somewhere in my build thread.

But if you definitly want the bolt on job, expect to pay just over $300. Or have a look at Prorack, you can pick them up from any super cheap auto store.

Or contact them to see who is your nearest re-seller.

The real issue I have is finding the model that clips into the roof channels. Deft don't want to go with rails, not a fan. The rack will have to come on and off because my vitara as it is only has 4" clearance through my roller door!

Rola dont do a custom fit for Vitaras, Thule do (very tall) and prorack do (tall but not as bad has Thule)

So if you want to keep the basket close to teh roof (do you have a vortex? they arent available anymore) you are stuck with track or pad mount

FWIW the Thule ones are a pain in the ass to get on and off, they grab the window rubbers and tear them, scratch the paint etc, track mounts are just a couple of bolts on and off

I have the Thule ones now and they are ugly as sin and are far too high. Pad mount you say? What is this?

Ill go find the pic of the Vitara I seen with the rack. We'll see what kind that is.

As far as I am aware, Rola only do a track mounted system for the Vitara. I ordered my kit through work, and the rola rep made sure I was aware that it was a track mount kit only.

Nick.

About $300 from memory, but it's a while since I bought one new.

Easy enough to drill out the rivets and pinch one off a wreck if you're feeling up to DIY.

I just picked up a rhino sports track mount roof rack and bars off a wreck (camry) at u-pull-it. I need to chop it down with an aluminium blade in the drop saw, but for $ 12 who can complain Armsup

pad mount is like track mount except you have 4 pads the racks attach to rather than 2 tracks, so there is no moving the racks around once they are mounted

I'm might go hunting at the wreckers. I like the $12 idea.
