basically, im trying to decide between them. car will be mainly used as offroad fun, 1.6 vit conversion, power trax rear auto locker already. question is.. will welding up the gaps in the side gears and spider gears, so they are all separate still, but cant rotate, be a feesable option? or should i just buy another auto locker without the couplers for the front? please no auto lock hate.. dont really care if airlockers are better. need cheap budget options. thanks!

I would go for the lockright, welded front sucks in every thing exept for very soft mud |

Yeah go with the auto locker.. Im twin locked and there is nothing wrong with them at all. I really don't understand all the hate for them.. |

I got away with a welded front for years in my Sierra. I just opened one hub until 4wd was needed. Was a bit heavy down steep hills, but fitting power steering solved that. Then I scored a front lockrite cheap for it, and was much happier with that. Power steer still makes an autop locker better to handle. My Vit has auto lockers both ends, very happy with it. christover |

Only other cheap option for offroad is if you throw the Lockright in the front and weld the rear. I ran mine that way for a while but prefer 2 Lockrights. |

yea, i was thinking of that way, but the lockright has the couplers so it wont fit into the front without the stronger axle kit (i think) will just run it open front until i need to rebuild the front swivels and put a lock right in then. no point twin locking it when i havnt even pushed the stock set up at all... |

Correct - mini spool the rear and double tough the front with your lockright for about $350+shipping and have a set and forget driveline you'll struggle to break. Steve. |

From the pictures of the power trax locker the coupler kit is different to the kit you use with the side gears. The couPler ones are a flat ratchet surface, where as the side gear kit is tapered to mate to the gear face. Not that bothered in the long run. It would be capable enough with no lockers with the terrain close to my town. Only keen on twin lockers for flinders trips. :p |

However you lock the front you'll be wanting the 26 spline front axles and CVs eventually. |

Auto locker is a spring loaded locker that ratchets when turning to give a similar effect to an open diff, but locked otherwise. Spool joins the two axles together and is held in place by the cross pins. |

Well im still in the process of finding and buying a zook to modify, but i'd say 70/30 on road. But i want to make it into more serious off road car once i get my road bike registered. |
