well i keep braking transfer case mounts i made my self a solid and a broke another stock one now im gona make the other 2 solid .. and i am going to buy a transfer skid .. or cradle .. something like the mighty kong or pref the ZOR unbreakable one problem is atm there on back order 4 weeks etc. .... to sum it up im worried making all my mounts solid will stress my transfer case to much with out installing a transfer case ring .. eg http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index.ph ... ake-1.html |

Are you breaking genuine rubber mounts, or the Bridgestone knockoffs? I can shred a bridgestone one without making it out of my driveway. The dangers of solid mounting are small, If anythin you may notice some added vibration. However there is a risk of transfering the weak point elsewhere. ie: When I went to solid mounts, I ripped the welded mount clean off the chassis. Thats a hell of a problem to sort offroad with minimal tools. |

How are these solid mounts made? Im running a body lift block with a 10mm high tensile, i dare say i would bend a mount before snapping one of those bolts. In the end something else is going to take the strain. |

cut up some square tubeing HT bolts some washers .. etc pritty back yard .. the new mounts i was thinking of making is just some suspension bush's with the metal insert with some HT bolts though it .. what do u think |

I can shred a bridgestone one without making it out of my driveway. I'm pretty sure the Bridgestone ones are OEM, the ones with no ID on them are the knockoffs. I've had the opposite experience - every unbranded one I've seen has failed, sometimes not even lasting the day. |

really depends on your driving style too, I'm running 140ish HP 4.1transfer gears with a mighty kong on 33's and don't have a broken rubber mount, i would much rather change a broken mount in the bush than try and figure out how to re-attach a chassis mount when it tares off the chassis |

The genuine ones arn't that easy to break at all! We are talking about the new aftermarket ones. They are rubbish! For piece of mind just track down a few secondhand originals in good condition! |

cost $17.80ea from KB auto. Part # is MT8135. 
This is just many options of larger rubber mounts if you go looking for them. Best thing is they are still a weak link, just a slightly stronger weak link. |

My single side mount is un-strengthened and looks liek a pretzel atm but the secondhand genuine rubber mount is still holding in there. Ive gone through 3 of those non genuine junk ones just driving on the road. The old rubbers have been holding up fine for 2 years now.. |

I pulled my transfer today and found something interesting, the single mount had buckled around the bolt hole. The mount dosent appear to have bent, just around the bolt hole. Since i did this with 4.9s and im going to 6.5s im getting a replacement out of 8mm plate so hopefully that will fix it, and attaching it to a roctoy ring at the same time. Hopefully not rip the chassis mount off in the process. |

But I left the STD mounts on it as a fusable link.

This is what I'm currently working on. Will eventually incorporate a skid plate and re-enforced arms. Setup is designed to work with the transfer mounted hand break on a NT SJ413 |

I'm waiting for my roctoy ring to arrive, but started making my cradle out of scrap at work when its quiet. I welded brackets to the work bench, and bolted the original transfer mounts and transfer to it etc. Then used that a base to start making the new mounts. I was amazed how much the stock mounts flex. I tapped the holes where the mounts for the transfer handbrake and the pto would be, to use for bracing. A roctoy ring will go on the front too, bracing front and back. I installed a 40mm transfer lift and stock rubber mounts as the weak point. |
