Ok well i am at cross roads with my zook atm. i have 2 options to go with. #1 Keep it basically as it is, put some beef cake mounts on the rear diff, (have them now) add rear locker air. keep front open, and some double black flairs i used to have this set up with VERY few times the capability has let me down. always kept up with the big trucks and have had very few breakages, the only real ones were recovering bigger trucks that i DON'T do anymore! #2, wide track rear diff, with coiler mounts, mini spool rear, front housing modded to take wt gear, front locker, cromo's 33's etc etc, this option is going to be a whole lot more on the budget and make it a whole lot more cop bait. keep in mind i am a long way from tassie (where the car is rego'd) so defects are going to fuck me over pretty bad. re rego in nsw etc... |

if you comp it without doing chromos you will break it, guarenteed. 31s on sierra diffs you are going to get hung up on stuff, least if your comps are any thing like ours. it all depends how much you wanna be compeditive. me forexample i dont do anything half assed, if i go into something i goin attempting to win. you may be different a mate bought a $350dollar LJ, threw some 31s on it and came away with a trophy the first time we comped it. but we didnt go out to win. |

hey Stupid Question but how Different are the Coil Diff centres and the SJ70 Centres .. im guessing u Cant Just swap the centres over can u .. that would be to simple .. .. Im guessing u need the whole SJ70 Diff and weld the coily mounts onto it etc etc |

the coily rear diff centre is the same as a sj70. front diff is an odd ball. high pinion. If you could bolt up an SJ70 diff cetre you dont think the coily owners would have figured it out by now? |

you can custom machine a jimny diff to fit airlockers aparently. but why bother when WT diffs will do the job for cheaper |

If you're going to change diffs and do comps, you may aswell screw some hilux diffs inplace of the coily diffs |

steak_knife wrote: steve wrote: If you're going to change diffs and do comps, you may aswell screw some hilux diffs inplace of the coily diffs Bingo!!!! & get a postie for a daily..... x3 or you could just go a whole wt diff setup and get spacers to match the width of the rear. It would be a lot easier then shortening a diff and rotating knuckles etc like you had planed. |

I'd work toward option two. WT front diff to start with. When you blow a centre smack an airlocked one in their with cro-mo's. When you current tires wear out then go 33's and upgrade your rear. If you plan on staying in NSW find the local engineer and chat with him to see what he's happy with you doing. |
