Hi guys, tried searching but most of the data was for 1.3 Sierra.

The head is off my 92 vitara and while its off I was wandering what I can do to get more torque.

Cam regrind... Worth it? Any other ideas

Is it power top end though or down low??

I would think it would be best down low in the rev range...

What specs did you get??

Also, if I do go ahead with a cam grind, should I get anything else done? Springs etc?
I dont want to spend a fortune though!

Tell who ever you get to do it what type of driving you plan on doing. I basically said, "I need it for 4wding and a bit of towing and would like the power/torque to be between 2000 and 4500 rpm."

Stage 1 or 2 can be done to the original cam.

If you get a new cam make sure you get new rocker arms

So rocker arms... what about valve springs, seats etc?? I have never done anything like this before, so don't know what should be done and what shouldn't...

May need h/d spring's depending on cam size, but if your only going mild you should be right..
Talk to the guy's at Tighe, they are the bee's knee's when it come's to cam's & have been for many a yr..

Ok, thread revive time!
The head is back on and she has been running sweet. Took us and all or gear on a 10 hour trip and back with no problems. Only hassle I'd that its using oil faster than what I like. So I an thinking it may be a good idea to start slowly collecting the bits needed for a rebuild.
Where is the best place to get this sort stuff?
Cams (tighe?)
Slightly larger pistons and rings

Anything I should do to make it a bit pokier while I am at it?
I know one guy here in a white Vit did something similar but I can't remember who...
Thanks for the help!
Pete

Thanks mate. I can see stuff for the Sierra, but not the Vitara, I assume they have something, will check. You were recommending them for pistons or rebuild kits or??
