My feeling is it's not a bad idea for extra insurance. What are they going to charge you? Also, have you got pistons and rods sorted yet? |

On the topic of rods, member "Losfer" works at Suzi Auto who are a dealer for Pauter Conrods. Arguably the best forged rod available for a G16. If you're considering a rod upgrade they're a great idea. He most likely can recommend a suitable set of studs to suit your engine. When it comes to engines, especially forced induction, talk to a pro before any major decision is made. |

vitara piston are strong. they are used in hi performance honda engines. the hole rebuild including labor is $2500. thats ripping the motor out to turning the key. |

They might have been used in Turbo Hondas before, but in that application it drops the compression ratio down a little. Are you doing something to drop compression, or running it as is? What about rods? That's what i'd be most worried about. |

Stock vitara pistons aren't used in Honda engines because of their strength, they're used because they achieve a lower compression ratio so the engine handles boost easier. The ring lands are larger than the weak OEM Honda items. For moderate boost you should be fine. I'd have no dramas using some .040 hypereutectics from someone like Clevite. The conrods and end cap bolts are notoriously weak. If any money was spent on the bottom end this would be first thing I would address. Off the top of my head, I'd expect ~$1600 for Pauter rods and ~$300 for bolts. |

decompressing with thicker head gasket. only running mild boost mayby around 10 psi. may need a hi flow oil pump. do you no of anyone who does these for suzi motors. thanks all. |
