Ok Gents here i go again. I am in the process of doing maintenance on my vit and now im at the stage of wanting to have a look at how much meat is left on my rear brakes, trouble is after taking off my tyre how the hell do you remove the steel cover that encloses the internals where the shoes lie. I can see a thread in the middle of the drum, does this have a use? Thanks Ray

theres two holes to put bolts and a puller in............
Or I just take a hammer to the case and tap it lightly with the handbrake of , turning as I go and it normally falls of.

undo the 4 bolts, make sure the hand brake is off then hit the drum on the face at opposite points

there will be 2 threaded bolt holes in the drum just outside of the hub hole, screw a couple of bolts into these & it will push the drum off.

Yeah, I had the same trouble. Took me and the old man a while to figure that one out.

I think the holes have about a 12mm thread, but don't quote me on that.

i know there are threaded holes there on the rotors on the front not sure about the back though. easiest way is undo the 4 bolts that hold the drum on and put your wheel back on with 2 bolts take hand brake off and wiggle from the wheel (you get more leverage on it this way). i find i get no where with just hitting with a hammer.

Going by other threads this is a 96 vit, doesnt have bolt on drums, they slip over the wheel studs like normal cars

Yeah, the later model Vits have a pressure fit drum.
