I changed my rear bushes & shocks a few weeks back for a bush trip I took this weekend. I used the black rubber ones on ebay. While i was changing a tyre I noticed that one of the 3 bushes had torn loose on both sides, pretty much the same as why I replaced them initially. Is this a common problem? I was only driving dirt roads with the odd rut here and there, there was a long section that was a little bumpy - but hardly what I expect to cause instant failure. Is there a more hard wearing product available? Could it be the springs are sagged so much that the bushes are copping a flogging? |

When i ran cheap rubber bushes in my springs, with out lube they died within 1000kays.. (as in, no bush left at all).. i then ran cheap bushes with a decent serve of HTB grease i had laying around, inside and outside the bushes and they lasted around 2000kays until i removed them, they were still in great condition. The nolathane bushes i used in the top shackle mounts have yet to wear and were in from the beginning. |

Firstly, the flanges on bushings should last more than 1000km. However, if the bushes are loose in the springs, your shackles are worn or have no centre bars, or you lubed them with petroleum based grease, it's not all that remarkable. Boostedbrick - HTB grease destroys rubber. Rubber bushes shouldn't require greasing, but if you do, use rubber grease. Steve. |

Boostedbrick - HTB grease destroys rubber. Rubber bushes shouldn't require greasing, but if you do, use rubber grease. Steve. Fair enough, i got told by the bloke at pedders not to use it on the nolathane ones, but was fine on rubber.. But pedders is pretty bloody useless either way. |

Steve. A company on ebay is the only place you can get them unless you go genuwine. I'll be getting a set or two very shortly. |

Which was kind of my point - the stock bushes aren't replaceable according to suzuki - flogged bushes=repalcement arms AFAIK Steve. |

Steve. I rang Zupps, they were asking $46.50 per bush. Rang another dealership (can't remember name) they told me the part didn't exist and I had to buy a whole arm at a price of $754.60 each. |

the part numbers for genuine rubber ones. Bush where arm attaches to diff is SZ4628281A30 and bush where arm attaches to the chassis is SZ4621365D01 |

Only if you can reinforce the axle brackets - in my experience urethane bushes break mounts on coilers. |

reinforcing anything is beyond me. think i'll get the poly ones and see how they go. could hardly be worse than the ones i had. Is there anyone in Sydney that could be recommended for doing custom mods/mechanical upgrades on Suzukis? |

Poly bushes could be far worse than rubber. Broken axle brackets really suck - tow truck material. Flogged rubber just makes the car drive loose. I'd be ordering factory replacement rubber. Steve. |

Flogged rubber just makes the car drive loose. I'd be ordering factory replacement rubber. X2 on the rubber bushes. I've been lucky so far, both time I have had axle mounts fail I have seen the damage at an inspection before it has completely failed. IMO, Nolathane bushes are alright if the car is only used on-road, but if it is used off-road, expect at least 1 cracked bush in less than 30,000km. I'm running second hand jimny arms with original rubber bushes in the front of one of my coilies at the moment and they haven't developed any noticable cracks so far. |
