Post subject:  Noob Q - Pulley/Bearing noise

Further to one of my previous posts about a strange rattling noise I pulled my main belt off and spun some of the pulleys by hand.

This is what it looks/sounds like:

Pulley noise

The first pulley is the idler. It doesn't sound too smooth. Does it need replacing? What's annoying is that bearing was replaced only a few 000km ago by my mechanic. It's part number is: Nachi 32N2002. Does this seem right?

The second pulley is the Tensioner pulley and sounds OK.

The third pulley is the power steering pump. Whilst it sounds OK there is a little wobble/movement, maybe 1mm or so. Is this normal? You can see the movement in the video.

The other pulleys - waterpump, alt and A/C sounded/felt fine.

What do you guys think?

Thanks all.

Sorry - I don't have audio on my desktop (I know, I know - that's just the way I am) so - J20A engine - serpentine belt idler & tensioner pulleys - IF you can hear any noise at all - the bearings are either dead or dying.

For the idler, the original bearing is an NSK 6005DUL1 - a 6005-2RS should work - I don't find any details on the Naachi, not even on Nacchi's website

I think this is the website:

Nachi

Yeah I'm going to chase up the mechanic who replaced the idler bearing.
