With the Problems of the Alloy Front Diff on the Vitaras, has anyone looked at stiffening up the mounts to create less movement in the Mounts ?? I know most people just source a Steel Diff, but I was just wondering if all the movement that u get in the standard mounts contribute towards the Diff breakages...... rob |

there is a thread here with some links to US forums with pics of different aftermarket mounts that could be adapted to the alloy diff... maybe started by christover1, you are right if you eliminate the flex/movement it will go along way to keeping it all in one piece. this is the link to Zuwharrie http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content/topic,100689.0.html which is one of the links i posted... will search for the AZ thread. EDIT: might have been this one http://auszookers.com/index.php?name=Fo ... sc&start=0 |

My mates drives drop brackets bolts to the carrier bolts and he has a cut down Sierra bump stop under the pinion to support it Probly has more but I haven't had a good look His drop brakets are huge though his lifted the motor 20 mm to get the diff down more |

Probly has more but I haven't had a good look His drop brakets are huge though his lifted the motor 20 mm to get the diff down more Not sure I understand what that would do ??? |

The alloy diffs can tear the bolts out of the brackets so his picks up some of the carrier ones a well and the bump stop is to stop is to pinion twisting down under load U need to hold it in place but it needs good rubber mounts to absorb shock loading That y nylong bushes are no good to use I think a steel strap over the pinion with old shock top rubbers between it and the crossmember would help as well |
