I'm about to get a slight lift on my GV and a change of tyres.
I'm pretty happy with the 40mm lift i'm getting but I am a bit lost with the tyre arrangement I need!!
Do I go a small rim diameter with a higher profile tyre, keep what I"ve got and just go wider or just say bugger it and up both rim and tyre to some silly size??
If anyone has altered their tyre's and could shed some light for me that would be great....
When you say "small rim diameter" The smallest rim diameter you can run on a GV is 16", which is what it came with. 15" rims don't clear the brakes.
There's no good reason to run a larger diameter rim than 16". Low profile tyres aren't an advantage off road.
You are very limited as to how much tyre diameter can be added - even though you have lifted the "rest" position of the suspension 40mm, the wheels can (and will) still move into the same positions they could when the suspension was standard.
Most GV owners find the largest feasible tyre is a 225 75 16, on a standard rim. As maximum workable tyre width is 225mm, there no need to fit wider rims.
