I have a '83 sierra with the 1.0Lt F10a engine in it, which I've been thinking about upgrading. I've seen lots of engine upgrades on later model sierras but none on the '83 model. Does anyone know what engines can be used or anything I look out for as i'm planning on doing everyhing myself. Also is it possible to put in a 5 speed gearbox? p.s I'm on my P's so anything involving a turbo is out of the question. |

idk much about it but i would put a 1.3 and 5 speed box in it to fit the box i think u have to cut a little out of the gearbox tunnel and remember anything that is mod plated to do with ur engine is not aloud on ur p's |

See my build thread for pics of my 1L to 1.3L conversion. But if I were you, I'd go straight to a G16B. Will cost you slightly more, but you won't be happy with the G13.. |

i was thinking about putting in a EFI 1.6 vitara engine in but i want to avoid having to buy an adapter plate (are you sure p platers aren't allowed to have adapter plates, i haven't seen anything about this). Also what are my options for gearboxes? |

That's Qld rules, in NSW you're OK unless it's turbo'ed or a V8. |
