If you use a bearing puller to remove a bearing from a pulley, what do you use to push a new bearing in if you don't have a press?

Find something round and try to push the ring that is being fitted. e.g. outer bearing ring into hole, or inner bearing ring onto shaft. Reduces the risk of denting the balls during install.

Or - reverse the puller - you can use it in pretty much the same way you did to remove the bearings.

Or you can get a cheap press from trade tools etc. That's what I used for gearbox and transfers.

I didn't realise the Puller can insert bearings as well. Thanks for that.

It really depends on the application - and in the case of a pulley (I believe you're specifcally asking about the idler pulley for the serpentine belt) - you can use the puller to "pull the pulley over the bearing" - you just need a heavy spacer so that the load of the center bolt is spread across the outer race, rather than being applied to the inner race and the balls.
