I've got a spare set of 33's off my cruiser and I have just acquired a 81 sj410, just want to know what would be the best way of getting it up high enough to fit them and if gearing is going to be a big prob once they are on. I dont want to spend a fortune its just a toy. Cheers. Joe

Guard chop is the new high. Gearing will be a big problem.

Guardchop, set of ome's and 6.5's

Gearing will be a huge problem trying to turn 33s in a 1.0L... Expect to have to do a fair amount of guard cutting/welding/bashing or a couple of inches body lift with some bumpstop spacers at the very least...

And brakes! Drum front?

And power!

Sell them for some smaller, or upgrade everything.

thanks for the advice had them anyway so I thought I'd ask, like I said its just a toy, the only reason it is getting rego is so I can pull my cruiser off the road to do some work on it. so I dont want to spend a heap of time on sierra, but still want to be able to have a play at times.

also I was going to attack the front diff with the welder but without manual locking hubs it would be a bastard to steer, what needs to be done to use manual hub locks on it I assume different hubs, it cant just be a matter of bolting on the hub locks? thanks again. Joe

:helloo: I'v been thinking of a cheap way to get more flex and bigger tyres on my sierra and the 33's option is out, If I was to go ruf with standard height springs, extended rear shackles ? should I be able to get a narrow'ish 31-32" tyres on it?

to fit a 31 you'll need to still do a guard chop and 2" lifted leaves in the ass end (standard ruf in front).

gearing will still be a big issue.

215/75r15 is the biggest i reckon you should go before thinking about gears.

but if you go 215/75 and lock it front and rear it'll still go tons of places.

so with the ruf it lifts the front it lifts it up about 2"? I know it's not really the right way to do it but why not just extend the shackles 2" instead of new springs(me being a tight ass)?

cause to get 2 inchs off lift u need around a 4 inch shackle and then it will ride like shit and have no flex, plus your shocks wont be the right length

x2

It will be fine.

I had stock springs as ruf. 3" extended shackles all round(double stock)and mixnmatch corolla rears. Rode nicer than lifted springs and moved nice offroad.

My castor was almost stock.

The only thing i didnt like is front clearance. Even with the diff forward 30mm
