wondering if anyone has made a weld on one out of sheet metal?

thinking bout doing one with 1mm sheet metal i can get for $48

Just buy a hard top cab.

Unless you are an expert sheetmetal worker, I doubt you will avoid it looking like a raped baboons arse.

Then buy a hard top cab, and cut it down.... It'll look far better than some dodgy backyard job...

Ok, so only over the front seats?

Thats alot easier then. And 1mm is nowhere near thick enough. Use 2mm or even 3mm ally. That way you can roll the dges and they will have some strength.

yeah just over the front seats. got an idea of how to make it and doesnt seem too hard. was thinking 1mm mild steel sheet welded to the middle roof bar and top door bars and front windscreen top. i have a roll cage that shud stop it bending too much if i roll over

Why not just buy the front part that go's with the hard tops just clips on and off

You might want to check competition regulations before you start. It think it specifies 3mm or similar.

What people usually do is make it out of good thickness aluminium sheet and it bolts to tabs on the rollcage. the idea is the during a roll over rocks and tree stumps etc don't come through into the cabin. Most people then run the normal type bimini over it to keep rain out

Hard roofs are really good for when you hit trees and the top of the dead tree breaks off lands on your head  :(

The front half of my FRP top fitted over the top of my internal cage with padding, and later on even had some 3mm steel sheet in between padding and roof as it was required for comps.
