hey guys :) i just bought a lwb 2 litre vitara, im planning to lift it and put some bigger tyres under it. I did some reading and decided iron man is prob crap, i saw outdoor auto and checked out there kits, like this one http://outdoorauto4x4.com/p/4602700/2l-suzuki-vitara-3inch-lift-kit.html

its looks ok, what do u guys think of this one for the price? i was actually only planning on a smaller lift that only requires struts and springs and doesnt need any thing else and wont wear out parts as much as a bigger lift... or do the extra parts in that outdoor auto kit counter all negative effects of a big lift?

any smaller options instead of iron man for 40 mm ish lift? I would be happy with the 3" one anyway except im just a bit worried about extra strain on components. some enlightenment would be good :) thanks guys

the extra bits in that kit will make everything ok, alot of people say ranchos are shit
if your looking for a smaller lift there is other cheaper options, you can get dobinsons kit (4 coils, front struts, rear shocks) for the same price as the ironman kit and also 40mm lift

or if moneys tight, you can just buy dobinsons coils ($330) commodore shocks ($90) and strut mount flip ($10 of bolts) which is a common budget setup

looks like a really good kit.
comes with everything need for safe 3inch lift.
i'm pretty sure tombutt has outdoor auto springs not sure if hes got the other bits as well tho

If ya gunna spend that much on a kit spend a lil more and go for the calmini kit or spend a bit more then that and do what Atari said :D

i think 3 inch lift would be the go actually, coz im planning on running 31s with 1.6 vit diffs. Im liking that outdoor auto kit, just because it has everything in it, im guessing postage from brisbane to melb wont be very good though, can anyone else comment on the rancho shocks?

I've usd ranchos RS5000's on a sierra. Shit. Also used the 9000's on a sierra. Also shit. Complete waste of money. Monroe gas gave better ride quality FFS :roll:

As for fitting a 3" lift to fit 31's......

Yes you will get a little more room in the guards at ride height, but flex will also increase, so be prepared to do some serious chopping. Specially around the base of the fire wall.

The Altered ego kit addresses some of the clearance issues that the calmini kit does not, and TRUELY gives more room for 31's.

Hey Buddy, I've got a LWB Vitara, and i umm'ed and Arr'ed about what kit to get... whilst that Altered Ego kit looks great, it is expensive, if your gonna spend as much for that top kit, you may as well hit up the Calmini 3" Kit. it flexes well, and they have great customer service... definitly a great base to start modifiying the suspension ( this is all IMO )

IMO, If you're going to spend the money on a Calmini kit, you might as well spend that little bit more & get the Altered Ego kit. :lol:

it's borderline... i ran around for a few years on stock gearing & 30's & it was alright for general wheeling but anything technical needed a lot of clutch work.

That's pretty nice of him to use pics of peoples car with out there permission as I wouldn't want my car or me tied to those springs

They have sagged half a inch never gave me the full 3 inch lift anyway and the fronts rub on the bump stops

I have dobinson struts which seem fine I'm personally thinking when the time comes for new springs I'll go dobinson springs for a gv will give around 70mm lift and take the load better I have commo rear shocks which are a little on the soft side but bearable for now

go cheap and get xl7 front spring for front nad get raised rear springs for the back and comodore shocks in rear and strut spacers in front and camber bolts to fix camber in fornt thats what i got and work well
xl7 should give u 3in lift in front

which commodore shocks? wheres the best cheapest place to get stuff like strut spacers and camber bolts and shyze? would i need extended brake lines? where to get them?. Ive got 30" tyres now so need to clear them, i dont mind if i have to cut some plastic out of the way, thanks

haha...yes guard chop was mentioned! But no one said body lift!

Vitara owners seem very hesistant to chop into their guards. The only decent chop I can think of was when Markil of blue lwb sierra fame hacked into his vitara on relative stock suspension lift to fit 32-33s??? That thing looked awesome for a Vit. I think someone here now owns it?

This vitara has airbags so no go for body lift
