So a few of you guys are running a chromo front end in your LJs. Have I got the right idea as to what you do here?

From what I figure you use Chromo Sierra CVs and Custom axles? I'm guessing the Sierra CVs means you have to do a disc brake swap? Can I buy the axles off anyone or do I need to get my own made? Of course, I'l need to put rear diff spider gears in the front for the 26 splines, I think that's about it.

Am I close or way off?

As I understand it you put SJ Joints on LJ housings with LJ diff and axels and SJ drums or disks .

yep. buy chromo cvs without the axles from low range.

think i paid about $100 per cv. yes it means either disk swap, or finding 1 litre drum brakes

custom inner axles. we got them made by a friend.

we may have a run being done again soon, but not sure when.

yep. though were looking at full floats rears soon too.

not sure what the cost will be as the cost of steel has gone up since.
ours were some where around the $200 mark per shaft

How close in length is a WT right hand/short shaft to a LJ50 shaft?

front shafts? not sure.

i know that the coily rear short side shaft is exact for length with a 50 shaft.

i picked one up but then never bothered finding a second one for 26 spline upgrade

I had measured up a WT rear diff to use 2 short shafts to make a shortened diff housing for an LJ50 that would take an air locker and JoeBlow rear discs, and 2 WT short shafts would have made the perfect width.

there is about 15-20mm difference in length between coily and WT

lj50 shafts are the same as coily down to the mm from memory

Quite a bit different I think. The Sierra short side front are really short. I Did have a 1L one somewhere that I could add 50mm to and get an estimate from.

I still have a few axles left from the last batch, heat treated 4140. They are 26 spline inner and 25 spline outer for the crmo CVs. Not sure what it'll cost to send them to you. Mine's twin locked on 32" tyres with 6.5 gears and they're solid. Guess once you get the CVs I can send them. $150 each. (plus post) Guess that should see them to WA under $200 each.
