It has a flashing led, that is on wether the ignition is on or off.

Electronic rust protection? (if it is, its not working coz there is rust where previous owner used tie down point as a snatch hook)

Its an electronic rust protection unit. Fitted by dealers when a defence pack was sold to customers at time of purchase. There is some cotroversy to whether they work or not, Its a cheap one so im not confident that it will do anything other than flatten your battery over time.

i am douting they work either, i have one on my new lancer and stone chips on the roof are starting to show rust

Ditch it,,, thats what i did with the one on my xl7. Suddenly got more than a week out of my battery when it was left siting for a while when i took it off

X2, but it's the type 2 one (or Gen II) capacitor. You'll have major ongoing issues if you remove it

I've got EPR, I'm skeptical as to whether it works as well. In the broichure I got with it it basically covers the motor and chassis... The body isn't covered in the insurance of it and I also had rust form on stone chips, although it didn't happen quite as fast as I've experienced on other cars which is a plus as I've spent quite some time on te beach.

Probably not the place to post this and not starting a debate lol just my thoughts

With ERPS it's normal to get an outer layer of rust on stone chips but it doesn't progress further.
