i am about to stick one on my sierra. the weight, with 45m of dynema, is fairly close to
the weight of my 6500 low mount with steel string.

get something that weights 40ish kg and sit it on ya bonnet and see what happens.

Its going to hang out the front a long way and be a pin in the ass to mount I reckon

not like they arent popular, flog t off and get a 6000lb tigerz or something that will fit better

Is it possible to run a small winch (say a 6000lb) off one decent battery?

yes

But then it depends on how long and so on, say it draws 200 amps, after 10mins of winching you have flattened the battery enough that restarting might be a drama, I am sure with a decent volt meter and some common sense (IE let it recharge between pulls, keep engine running) it would be ok most of the time

I know that they are very popular Royce. I have no problems cutting the bonnet/grill so that I can reses it. I'm not selling it purely for the face that after I buy a house I'm racing in winch challenges and cannot be bothered finding another one. Cause trust me other wise I would have sold it already. Thanks for your input though. It does put a few things into perspective for me

If you're after speed - racing in winch challenges. why not run a tigerz 10,000 comp spec winch.. they are just as good as hi mounts in terms of speed.

I run one in my LWB and run an alfa radiator over the winch.
