| Post subject: | SUZUKI maruti LWB engine/gearbox easy swaps |
im about to buy and maruti(sierra LWB 1996 modle, does anyone have any info on them? from what i can find they have widetrack diffs underthem although have the old 1L engine with 4speed gear box? do the 1.3L bolt straight in or require more work? or do the 5 speed gear boxes bolt on? am just looking for abit more power and even more then that, a engine that dosent scream its guts out at 100km's any advice and input would be much appreiated |

The 1L are built to rev. Thats what they do, and they do it WELL! IMO a 1.3L and 5sp swap is pointless. The power gain is just not worth the effort. Look at a 1.6 EFI vitara swap or leave it be. You'll be suprised how far the standard 1L will get you. |

Just curious but do the 1L engines really have no camshaft bearings? Pretty sure my pop may have mentioned that. |

They run in the head, so its a good idea to change oil regularly |

Hi Treemonkey, I own 2 Marutis both 91 a NT and WT. If you want to keep the engine, you can get yourself a sierra 5 speed box pull it apart take out the gears and put then into your Maruti 4 speed gearbox. That way it wont scream so much on the freeway. Adding extractors will give you some more power with a snorkel. Other then that rip out the 1ltr and throw in the vit engine. Im putting one in mine atm with a 4 speed auto box with Maruti 1ltr transfer with rock hoppers. |
