Perhaps a solution for those wanting to control an AW4 without a TCM? 8)

http://www.retrotekspeed.com/products/smart-shift/smart-shift-stand-alone/smart-shift.html

I have emailed the manufacturer to determine its suitability to the AW4, and a price!! but given that the control panel is $275 alone I would imagine the kit would be pushing $700 :?

Still worth looking into though

All that thing seems to be is an actuator controller, no different to having a shift linkage hooked up to teh side

Yeah it was originally designed for manual shift autos. It just does away with the big bulky shifters.

I found this, http://www.greatlakesxj.com/tech/aw4shiftmod.html

Apparently a stolen/copied design, discussed here:

Does that help?

Cheers mate!

Found your one a few months ago. It's a good read 8)

I believe I have a stock TCM on its way soon so I can begin probing and investigating.
