The vitara carby is a do-able option. Weber carb if you have a spare $700+++ to spend, but I'm not starting that debate again

Not sure...if it were that easy I'm positive it would have been done 100's times before

Keeping the same engine, i think you'd only be talking about 5% difference in anything you do. But if someone has some lab tests that prove different it'd be good to see some results.

Because its a reasonable amount more work with minimal power upgrade. The best thing you can do with the 1.3 is not spend a cent on it other than basic servicing. And with the money saved invest in a 1.6 efi conversion.

There not though. The engine was built for the stock tyres they come out of factory with. Putting bigger tyres or mods to it, which makes it under powered

Best you can do I reckon would be extractors, cam regrind, bigger jets or carby. Not much point.
I'd just save for a 1.6 conversion

The 1.3 does perform pretty darn well with a weber 32/36, 2 inch exhaust and extractors as well as a tweaked dizzy. You should be able to find a good nic s/hand weber up and running for ~300ish. If your looking for new stuff its mega bucks and not worth it.

Another alternative that quite a few yanks have done is fit quad ~32mm motorcycle carbs with awesome outcomes! I think nandor on this site has also done this with success.

i have 32/36 weber, just bought new 2 inch exhaust, once the rebuild is done and its all back together will let you know if you can wait, with just the weber & the extractors that was on it made more of a difference with responsiveness rather than a feeling of more power

you can do SPI pretty cheap if you can find the parts.

I couldn't even sell a new weber on here for $300... There cheap if you look around. But may not be the best choice for some types of wheeling..

There's been a turbo kit for a Sierra for sale in the Quokka for $800 (I think) for weeks now.

Just go the usual, extractors, bigger zorst, shit pod filter... Then give up and go for the 1.6
