Post subject:  My new spring set up
i finally decided what springs to get i got some EFS rears and new i've got a couple questions before i stuff everything up :roll:
i got some gabriel shocks off a liteace and they are about 3 inches longer than what i've got at them moment is that gonna be long enough for 65mm lifted springs

my next question is what leaf should i take out because they are fairly stiff?

my last question is when i put the rears up front do i need to do anything to the springs eg. take out leaves or put some of the front leaves in the rear pack?

in the pic, i'd take out the leaf above the load leaf, (load leaf being the bottom straight one.

if you are using standard mounts extended length means nothing, you want to make sure the diff will hit the bumpstops before the shock bottoms out, IE the COMPRESSED length is not longer than the distance between shock mounts fully compressed, though in this case it will be fine I think

I would pull the short curved leaf out and put it in your standard rear to go in the front, I think stock rears arent stiff enough for fronts and collapse pretty easy (my best was 24 hours)

dont take the clamps off, see what they do at full flex first

the key to good suspension is one small mod at a time, get to know how it works in all situations then make a change so you know how it changes things

I went all out massive soft springs, massive shocks and it all flexed awsome and looked cool, but try and climb a rutted hill and it was all over the place and shit, its all about balance

so take the leaf about the load leaf out of the new rears then put that leaf in the old rears and take off the load leaf?

nothing will be final cause you will have to tinker with adding and removing springs to get it just right

yer the front usually needs longer lines once you more than the usual 2inch lift.

i don't think the rear one is that bad, flex it up and have a look. I think you can get away without extending the rear one, but you could do it anyway just for bling factor.

you will need to drill you rear spring mout about 20 mm back aswell so your steering links don't get cought up when flexing. i think the aim is to have you diff about 1 " to 1.5" forward from stock and every thing sholud be fine

i didn't realise i had to do that, i'd like to try it without drilling the holes first because i'd more than likely stuff that up

it will move you diif forwad a bit, you'll have to redrill the spring pad forward of the axle to move the diff back a bit but will make the car very stable if you steering works

wow i didn't realise i had so much work ahead of me, looks like i won't have it back together for a while :roll:
at least i won't have to worry about the front tyres scrubbing anymore

not much more work, just to more holes drilled. you'll have it apart any way. just run a tape over every thing twice before you drill.

yes because the spring will move it forward about 2 or 3 and then the steering gets stuffed up.
