I've just replaced my sierra carby and inlet manifold with one off a G16A vitara carby engine. I have three questions to those that have done this before: 1. Do you have to use the vitara accelerator cable or modify the sierra one? The cable I have is too long as the mounting for it on the vit carby is further over than on the sierra carb. 2. Where is this vacuum hose meant to hook up to. It comes out of the bottom of the passenger side of the carb, where three vac hoses come out together. It then loops around the front of the carb and over the thermostat housing.
3. Whats this hose for? I've blocked it off as there's nowhere on a sierra for it.

Hose no.3 goes into the charcoal canister (mounted above the steering box in a Vitara instead of the firewall in a Sierra). Not sure of the others without having a look at my vehicles. |

Hi, The small hose(one of the 3) goes to the canister, 1 to the vac advance, and 1 to the EGR.(yours is already in place) The sierra Canaster only has 2 pipes on it, one to the tank vent and this one(purge line). The large hose from the top of the carb(number 3) is the carb vent, but only when the engine is not running. The Small solenoid on top of the carb vents the float chamber to the throat during running, and this pipe when turned off.. |
