Fully rebuilt motor with an aftermarket performance cam and High comp pistons. Rejetted carb or weber carb. Extractors and larger exhaust.

Or a G16B..

bigger cam
better carby
its a 1.3 it will never be a power house.
better off drpping in a 1.6 big block

best off removing the 1.3 and do 1.6 swap, definately worth doing, once i did mine i never looked back

Post subject:  Re: serria 1.3l more power

i thought of taking it to a performance place and getting it tuned.

Author:  SierraDan [ Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:35 am ]
Post subject:  Re: serria 1.3l more power

That would just make it run well. Its not a detuned LS3 that will let out what it can really do after a tune.

If you want more noticeable useable power. Do proper mods and have it tuned to those mods.

But your best bet is a G16B with extractors and decent exhaust.

unless it buggered mate, i wouldnt bother, there is only so much you can do with a naturally aspirated carby engine. if the engine is running fine, just leave it and enjoy it.
if you really need more power, you will be better off and cheaper to put a vitara efi engine in it.

as far as a tune, adjust idle screw and do the distributor timing, thats it, any home mechanic can do it, or if you cant the most basic of mechanic shop can, you wont have to go to a performance shop and have your pants pulled down.

how is that not helping if u search it all the info is right there

Author:  MrRocky [ Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:45 am ]
Post subject:  Re: serria 1.3l more power

skim head to raise compression 3/4 of a point - $50
2" exhaust system - $180

these will be the biggest power gains you will get provided your donk hasnt done a heap of kms, keep in mind we arnt talking 20-30hp
here more like 5-10hp max

the bloke is a pretty new member, is asking a basic question needs some basic answers.
it would have taken you more time to be a pretetious prick han give him his answers, a link and a heads up to look threw the search function in the future as there is all the info on most common problems.
but you took the know all shithead path.

chuck a link up of the thread, its a public forum, of course the question has been asked before.
i bet "what 2'' suspension'' thread will be up before the end of the month. advise them of the search function, throw a link to a similar thread with the answers. making someone feel like a dick because they are asking for info helps no-one.
maybe you said it with no malice intent, but its something that really annys me.

I agree with the extractors. I put them on with an 1 3/4 straight thru system and now I can top out at 140 instead of choking the motor trying to get over 100, and got a noticable improvement in fuel economy too. It would be the first thing to improve performance :D
I like the idea about skimming the head, i will have to remember that one!

Chuck it in the Bin, and Whack a Fuel injected G16B In it 8)

Post subject:  Re: serria 1.3l more power

extractors help it rev a bit more freely but i dont actually think the styles avaialable in aus make any noticable power gain over the standard manifold they dont crack tho. The major difference is the full 2" system
I should also add that u need to run on 98 octane or better when u skim the head that much, that is the absolute max u can skim before u run into mechanical clearance issues

Pift what is with this junk info? What is actually wrong with the G13?

I reckon they are a bloody awesome engine! Yes the G16 EFI has more power etc but a descent condition g13 set up with a good exhaust and carb offers a very nice increase in torque and is very nice to drive.

The G16 is a nice solution but is not the ONLY solution

the original post he wanted more power, we assume he wants noticeable power increase. the g13b is a good performer as a solid reliable little sweat heart engine, but for a power increase that he will notice... put the 1.6 efi big block in.

I'm with jrzook. I'll be doing exhaust, webber, better ignition coil and good plugs. I'm not after a drag car. Just a reliable rig :)

If you compare a stocker 1300 and a 1300 with a descent exhaust and larger well tuned carb, such as a weber, you will be pleasantly surprised. Again have a look at some of the yankie sites from the fella's who have actually done these mods and have dyno sheets to show the actual differences they make.

I had the 1300 setup described and it was a sweet little engine. Those mods made a noticeable difference.
