I want to make the car a little safer and i'm just wondering with a roll cage what exactly makes a 'point'. Like what is the difference between a 4 point and a 6 point cage? What steel is necessary to make this? Anywhere that anyone knows you can get the precut ADR approved ones? and the legalities state "installation of four point roll cages, which convert to six point roll cages strictly for offroad use only." how do you do that???? |

the "points" refer to how many the the roll cage is mounted to the car |

A point is a mounting point to the car steel is depending a lot of things, a legal ROPS cage can be made from basic pipe, cams regs state a higher grade of tube at varying diameter and thickness depending on what part it is and what type of use it will have where did you read that regulation? 6 point commonly refers to a main hoop, 2 rear stays and 2 forward stays that run along at roof height and normally join side to side as well, I know of a few like this that are certified for road use |

http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... _ncop.aspx and then in the seating one. maybe you have to have engineer after the four points and that 6 point that you described is exactly how i want it but also where do you mount to for the forwards loops? on your dash? |

mo you normally cut the dash out so the hoops go behind it |

it would be easier just to get someone to make one here then at least they can make it how you want |

your best off talking to someone off here that lives up your way but some 4x4 places do that sort of thing but you could try an engineering place |
