Howdy.

I'm looking to replace my aging rear springs in my Vitara and I was hoping someone could shed some light on what springs to replace them with. The car is an old shitter so don't want to get too excited, just something cheap and legal that will also give it a little extra height. Any ideas?

Cheers in advance 8)

I think 180sx coils give some lift...

I put new King springs in my 94 Vit. did not need to change shocks. gave it good lift and more importantly, stop the sagging when towing.
I think it was less than $200 fitted

TD Gemini front coils give just under 4" to a SWB vit and just over 3" for a LWB vit. Diesel Gemini are a little firmer. Ford Escort of the same vintage will give almost 3" on a LWB vit and 3" on a SWB vit. You can pick any of these up for cheap, just make sure that they are not cut down of lowered. :)

Thanks for the info. Gives me some food for thought.

Those Gemini springs sound interesting but probably a tad too high for me. Don't want to have to change the shocks aswell. :( I was hoping for around 40-50 mm lift tops.

Cheers :)

Springs from a Nissan c33 laurel give 50mm lift.

Im running the TE gemini fronts on my LWB, they actually only gave about 2" but give some nice flex without a harsh ride

i currently run 180sx rears in my swb vit, give just under 2". but think they are pretty old, got some newer one coming soon. can also run 94ish honda accord springs. about 2.5-3" (a lot of USA guys use these)

In case you have a LWB....

I did this with my LWB and it lowered it... (yes the 180 springs were good). So the SWB must be a lot lighter to not compress them as easy?
