Hi all,

I have a 95 Sierra that I will be using for mainly for beach driving & camping but also as a part daily driver.

What type of Jack would you recommend? Any brand in particular? What complies with QLD regulations?

Are we talking an exhaust type jack, high-lift or just a plain trolley jack? Not sure if there are any regulations for any of them? What are you wanting to use it for?

.. im not quite sure whats hes talking about i know when u go over the pits ur ment to have a working jack and equipment
as far as i know u can pick and as long as its working .. as for jacks my fav is the high-lift jack but u do need to be carefull with them , small trolleyjacks are great if ur not in the bush though

I'm looking for a Jack that is suitable for road and beach/off road use. So far I have contemplated an exhaust jack however I'm not sure if anything else is suitable? What brands of jack? I'm fairly new to the scene so I'm looking for recommendations.

What about the newer cars that come with no spare and a can of goo and an air compressor? The jack being required when over the pits must be an old rule.

My understanding is if you have a spare tire, you must have a jack on board. But no spare is no big deal.

Hi Nick, if you mean for changing flat tyres etc then for beach driving and camping the standard suzuki scissor jack is all you are going to need. It is handy to have a flat piece of timber or similar (i have an A4 size piece of very thick alloy checker plate) to put under it on soft surfaces like sand.

High lift jacks are good but they are bulky and then you need to modify your suzuki with points to attach the highlift jack or it will just bend and damage the car.

Nothing wrong with the stock jack.

If you want an upgrade, grab a toyota bottle jack from an 80's-90's hilux/cruiser.

Stocky jack it is then... I might check out the Hilux/cruiser jack too! Great suggestion.

Would be cheaper than an exhaust jack or fitting the back seat to take extra mates! lol ;)

Pajero bottle jacks are good to, they have two part cylinders AND the screw in the top, so they are small but go up a long way, and just so you can make fun of the paj, even the handle slides inside its self and gets longer or shorter, for stowage or extra leverage.
