Post subject:  Evidence of weight
Just got back from WA transport. I'm all good to get registered but I need an official weight on my Sierra - ie - a weigh bridge certificate or a except from a published manual or original owner's hand book. I had a weigh bridge at my old work and know exactly what it weighs (1040 kgs), but I need documented proof that my car is less than 3 tons.

Specifically I need:
- evidence of tare weight
- evidence of aggregate weight (GVM, GTM, or ATM)

Can anyone in Perth help me out with a handbook? I tried looking up weight in the Haynes manual, but found sweet FA. Weigh bridge certificate is an option, but hopefully the last resort.

Any trailer manufacturer should be able to point you in the right direction to a weighbridge that does certificates. Just for peoples info in brisbane the cement place at Brendale does it for about $12.

Hey that's OK. I was thinking it'd cost $$$ for a legal certificate. I'll call into the camper trailer makers around the corner. Cheers 2stroker

If you are anywhere near Freo, you can get it done at the port.

It cost me $15, 2 years ago.

They give you a certificate that WA transport readily accepts.

The lady there said she does a couple every day.

i had to put mine on a weighbridge for engineering - theres one in midland/guildford area - you park it up and they do it for you and give you a hand written "certificate"...

Being WA, the masses shown on your rego certificate will directly effect your registration costs.

A weighbridge will almost certainly weigh your vehicle with various modifications as being heavier than when it was new from the factory.

Can you get Suzuki to put some official figures on paper with their letterhead?

A few phone calls and not many options it seems, but found one nearby-ish. Cleanaway Transfer Station, 271 Collier Rd, Bayswater. $17.50 for the weigh. .. missed em until tomorrow, they close at 3.

OK, so clean out the car and get the tank as close to empty as I can in the meantime huh?

mine went over the weighbridge in torrential rain... soft top full of water and a full tank of fuel lol - came in at 1040kg.

i had the same drama with my old ute but in the end they were happy with the owners manual page stating the weight of it

i was thinking the same thing. i reckon i would have been a smartass if i was told i needed actual proof a sierra was under 3 ton...

rock up with your standard scissor jack which is rated to 660kg i believe? and proceed to jack up the front of the car... =)

if a printout from the FSM isnt enough then you'll just have to park it on a weighbridge... i was engineering the mods on mine so a weighbridge was compulsory, but you're just registering yours so it shouldnt matter. I'm suprised theyre even asking.

GVM should be stamped on the compliance plate. Capacity for a hardtop is 200Kg, 250Kg for a softtop. Subtract that for Tare weight.
