hi i was just woundring what mods you have to do to run 31 muddys under a zook i got a 2'' lift with exstanded shackels and a 1L trnsfercase. |

you'll need a body lift cut the front chassis outriggers off and maybe smooth out the lips inside the guards |

to run them nicely piss those extended shackles off and run a 50mm spring lift and 50mm bodylift. |

you can run 31s with a 1.3 transfercase, it would be better with the 1 litre case than a 1.3 |

but most people put reductive gears in the 1.3 transfercase when going over 30 |

i have 31's on my sierra with a standard 1.3 transfercase the one litre transfercase is geared lower which corrects for the tyres a bit the gearing isn't back to what it used to be with standard tyres but its closer than the 1.3 |

with joe blows reccomendations everything will be legal except the tyres where as now your car has the extended shackles it could be done by the boys in blue |

IF you submit the paperwork for the body-lift to the transport department, & then get it approved & inspected, it would be legal, except for the tyres & extended shackles... (in QLD anyway) What driving do you want to do? Transfer gears can be had from the US for around $600-$700 at the moment with the good conversion rate. This suits very low speed (crawling) over rocks etc, if you want a bit faster low-range (mud bashin etc) maybe keep it as is... Just a note though, if you do start doing any hard/steep/slow speed 4x4ing theres a good chance you will burn your clutch out (my mates went the first day he took his car out on 31's with standard t'case and that wanst any hard stuff)...So if this happens, by the time to do a clutch replacement a second time you may as well have bought the gears to start with... |

remember that for us running the 1.3 xfer case the 1.0 is better but because your speedo is already set up for the 1.0 it will be just the same out as if we left our 1.3 in. Reduction gears is probably the best way to go if you can spend the cash otherwise try it out burn out a clutch then when your bank recovers from that get the gears |

hi guys i am unning 31's on my zook 1.3 and it runs them fine i got 2 inch body 2 inch spring and cut them rail things off and i can get full flex to the bump stops reduction gear help but not needed... if u put the 1L transfer that counter's the 31s..... |

it doesn't matter what terrain you do, gearing determines load on a driveline. there is a formula which the industry uses. to run 31's properly you will need more than a one litre transfer, either diff gears or t/case gears. if you want to even the load up correctly and gain as much power back than diff gears are the way to go. if you want to get the engine revving to almost its original state while putting more load in mounts, uni's and other components after the t/case outputs than go t/case gears. |

I think he has 1ltr zuk though, so the 1 ltr T/case in that is stock gearing. You could get some 1.3ltr diff housings with Vitara 5.12 centres. Would lower your gearing a bit. Or spending similar dollars and just get some transfer gears from the states. |

that is pretty much what i meant that because the car is set up for those gears it doesnt help him having it as much as if a 1.3L owner had those gears |
