i know its not a Suzuki club and depending on the type of tracks you like i'm in the subaclub great bunch of people i have alot of fun on the runs that i do with them but i still have to go out for some harder runs to get my fix

i fucken hate clubs, they start out fun and with a really cool idea, go wheeling together or whatever, but soon enough some fucken cockhead or bunch of cockheads gets the idea that it should be "organised" and then proceeds o fuck it royally for everyone with over the top rules, and strcuture, etc, etc, or you get the bloke who knows everything no matter what the subject is who wont shut up, fuck that

I've been a member of Just Cruz'n for the past 7 years, it's based out here in Jimboomba. Not a bad club if you don't mind the odd weekend camping trip and easy to medium 4wd runs. If you need any more info PM me.

Maybe you haven't found the right club? Not every club requires a sub committee to work out what colour the T shirts should be. Clubs need some structure or else they fall apart (or worse, actually go into debt) but some members seem to like making things more complicated. It doesn't have to be like that.

I've been in the Vic Suzuki club for 18 years. It's a very relaxed club. All the (other) faces have changed in that time but there has always been a core of active members, a good range of trips, and the barest minimum of bureaucracy. Not all clubs are like this - I was a Landcruiser club member for a few years but didn't go on any trips after the first couple of years - too much of exactly what you talk of.

steve, its really cool when you can get involved with people like the vic suzuki club are like, its just been mt experience & not just with 4x4 clubs, was just having a rant really, but its nice to hear that there are clubs out there that are nice and chilled

We've bumped into Suzuki owners on trips over the years who've just come straight out with "I'm not interested in clubs" ... Ok.

I ride a MTB, but I don't do it with other people, and as a result, it's really hard for me to progress my riding.

In a club, there's always a better driver than you, there's always someone with a less set up car driving harder lines, and there's always someone with a bigger car. That builds progression and that's the coolest thing about a (good) club.

Some clubs are all about regression though - you can't go on X grip until you know this guy... you can't go and Y trip unless you have done Z training.... that a crock. Clubs should encourage, not discourage.

x2.... the whole having to do training before going on a trip is bullshit IMO. The only training that needs to be given is a rundown on safety during recoveries etc which 90% is common sense. Granted there are alot of wankers with no common sense, but the basics can be explained before hand and then shown as needed.

This stopped me from joining a certain club... Too much bullshit to go out and have some fun with other people, that in the end sounded like know it all tools :p

The other thing I hated was just the Toyota Vs Nissan crap. One guy came up to me and asked my opinion, which is better, I said they're both good at what they do, The main thing I look for is having fun and going camping. His response was, yeah but which is better. I said well Suzuki's because they're more fun. he replied with bullshit they're just toy's. ok mate no worries.

The people that I have most enjoyed going 4wd'ing with are people that I've met through here.

And the flip side to that is the seemingly confident 4wd'er who when he's out on a trip with others suddenly discovers that he doesn't know shit about 4WDriving and becomes a danger to himself and other because he has no skills at all.

I have a recollection of a long weekend trip to a certain track that is now deep within World Heritage/National Park. It was a three day long weekend, and it was a requirement that vehicles had to have certain level of mods and driver's had to be fairly experienced. One of the guys wanted to bring a mate who'd been "driving for years" and had heard about this track. We spent the whole weekend guiding, snatching and talking this guy through the most elementary bits of the track at probably half the pace we wanted to set. It almost got to the stage of telling this guy to push his car off the side of the track, burn it and walk out and we never want to see him again. If he'd rolled his car on that track, it would have blocked the track for our return back out, and would have been a hellish place to recover a vehicle from.

I can't see much difference.
All groups of people have issues.
The bigger the group, the bigger the politics.
Ain't none of us are perfect.
There will always be a know it all,
a less than capable think they expert driver,
and other problems,
whether it be an AZ group, Club, family or just a bunch of mates.
Clubs do have a bit of an insurance value, though.
