After a jolly old bash on the beach the other day, stopped the vit to get out and have a chat, then went back in and all of a sudden the gear stick went completley sloppy, still selects gears fine and all. After a bit of searching on here i pulled it apart and found the boot had cracked and let in a head of sand and water. The spring, bolts and ball seemed in good condition, so i cleaned them up and put it all back together, after draining the water and adding grease. Trouble is, its still exactly the same. Everything in that picture was there and cleaned and greased. Dad put it down to a worn ball on it, but it seems odd that that would give up all of a sudden? Help would be appreciated greatly! |

Does this rubber go in the box or the end of the gear stick. Mines very sloppy also. I figured it was normal |

Cheers for the replies guys. Does the smaller bush go over the end ball, because that would explain things. The thing had sand in it cause of the cracked boot so that may had done it. |

Or it could be the Special bolt. 99% of the time on a Sierra it's the bush. |
