G'day Zookers. Just a bit of info but I wont be doin it for a few years. I heard the pre ecotec engines for the commodores are a common engine swap. Do's the engine mate up without a kit? Where can I purchase one of these kits? I've also been told that toyota celica engines will bolt straight in as well. Has anyone done these swaps and what are the pro's and cons? I know the Zooks aren't made for speed and thats not what I'm after btw. Just more grunt would be awesome. So if anyone has done these engine swaps or knows a bit about them can you sling it on this thread? Cheers everyone. |

What model/year are you talking about putting it in? Nothing will "bolt straight up". There's only varying degrees of difficulty. |

u wouldnt be happy with a commo swap and yes u need a kit to fit them they are very heavy and u cant go from a 1.3 to a 3.8 legally just do what everyone else does and go a 1.6 injection vit motor i did it to my zook and its more than enough. thats if ur talking bout a sierra btw also the 1.6 requires an adapter kit for the gearbox and and engine mount spacer on left side |

FYI it's a vitara, it has a 1.6 in it already i'm guessing & there is no need for the adapter kit.

I usually avoid this subject. Mainly cos I'm sick of reading the same question over and over again, but here goes...... The Commy V6 REALLY isn't that good. Its extremely heavy. And when you consider its capacity, and the power it puts out, it is not a good choice at all. For example: VN V6 puts out 125kw, 292Nm from 3800cc. A 4AGZE puts out 125kw, 210Nm from 1600cc. Whilst the GZE is still a heavy motor compared to the G16B, I'd estimate the VN V6 to weigh more than 80-100kgs over a 4agze. Both engines are about the same age (discounting the V6' buick heratige). If you think it will be cheap......do some research on ALL the parts you will need to complete the conversion. Then add 30% and call that your budget. |

I want to see some one put in a 1.8 Turbo petrol vw motor in a vit. It's ment to fit pretty easy a guy on zukiworld did one . It lifts the front wheels on takeoff. Well until something goes snap Over 200 hp at the wheels |

I've got a mate that's slapping a turbo on his g16b and putting it into a sierra. Needs it though as he's got 35' tyres. My mate keeps saying that my stock g16b with 31' will be no problem once I get them on there. My g16b hammers atm stock with stock car but I'm getting new suspension, tyres, body lift, Bullbar, winch ect. With all this extra weight is it gonna have problems? I'm assuming it's gonna be around the 120kg-150kg extra (just guessing). I'm not after a fast car, I'm just after something that will perform reasonably. Would changing the gear ratio be an option and what sort of ratio's are there available? |
