So I wanna see what people are running, largest on unmodified body etc, largest on huge lift etc, I'm thinking of trying to fit some pretty big tires to a stock xl7 to try get some ground clearence on some all terrains mainly for dirt track use to camping grounds and some seen ruts etc. I think I will just do some major bumper trimming and try run some 245 75 r16 any one doing anything similar? Like stated in my other thread I'll most likely do a proper 40mm spring lift later but I really want the tyres now to use, I'm due for tyres now. Thoughts and pics of what your running? I'd really like to make his the one any only definitive tyre size thread for GV Ryan. |

To fit the245/75R16 04 255/70R16 you have to trim quite a bit of plastic from inside the wheel arches. Gearing will suck with this size tyre. You neew do swap diff ratios but there are none available for the XL7. Rear diff is different to GV or so im led to believe. |

Hmm I hate my ratios anyway, I much prefer the higher gearing for highway Ks as I'm either traveling 100 highway Ks to work or going offroad, rarely city driving Is it it going to be a big change? Would it be a strain on much or just a fuel consumtion? |

Is it it going to be a big change? Would it be a strain on much or just a fuel consumtion? Crawl ratio will be crap. Will end up riding the clutch alot. If its an Auto it will slowly over heat the auto due to the extra load it will put on it. Fitting a trans cooler will help. |

Manual, the work I do is never crawl, I've used low range 2nd once to get out of some mud on my stock tires, though with better tyres I think I will find myself venturing further into places. I'll get my book and throw up the xl7 ratios |

245/75R16 are about 12.5% bigger than a stock 235/60R16 so where you used to be in low 2nd you will be having to use 1st. |

4 inch grinder and a 1mm disc will make short work of the plastic guards. |

There is a build on zukiworld that runs 37 on his xl7 so anything is possible with enough cutting |

And also a lot of lift I'm guessing haha I might just go 245 70 for now |

Xl7s have bigger wheel arches than GVs but not by much, 235/70/16 is a good fit with no lift. |

Look at them side by side on a GV and it still looks bigger than a 225. |

Also depends on brand of tyre, and type of tread as well |
