yep, i have them in a 235/75r15 & they're are taller than my 31" MTR's 8)

235/75r15's v 31/10.5r15 :?
Image

they are a remold tyre... eg retread, they work well off road, bloody noisy on road & they're heavy as hell, as a play only tyre they're perfect.

tread seems quite sticky & side walls seem pretty flexy.

I'll consider these when my present tyres wear out.
Was very happy with my Mongrels,
these should be just as good.
Softness of sidewall usually is good,
because they 2nd hand carcass broken in by some heavy 4wd junk.:)

235/85 16's is perfect for a zook,
but I'd have to buy rims as well.
So a tall 235 on my 15's sounds like my choice.

Can they be used on road or are they comp only?

they are a street legal tyre, i did a 600km round trip on them with a heap of highway driving... my stereo was about up louder by about 5 or 6 & it doesn't even come close to drowning out the noise. it's like you are being chased by a hover craft & my fuel economy blew out wickedly

x2 that's the size I want.

Pity 235s don't come in really high profiles.

Just remember, the size they state is the carcass size then they have an inch or more of tread wrapped over the top.
Thats why the 235's Gus got off me are 31's when usually they should be a 29".

So being such a heavier tyre blows out the fuel milage but by how much?
Tyres look really awesome with a heap of bite and I actually looked into these tyres not long ago. Only thing is that say the sahara's are only a difference of about $20 to buy the Maxiss bighorns brand new off ebay.

I'm still considering these tyres as an option though as I'm sure the performance will be huge.

The weight and the added rolling resistance would be it @ 110kph it was something like 4l per 100km worse than my normal mud tyres.

Post subject:  Re: Insa Turbo Special Track Tyre (simex pede replica)

I can't see the tyre weight adding to an increased fuel milage, rather, the aggressive tread pattern.

dont forget cos of the increase in size the odometer is way out as well (unless you measured speed and mileage by gps?)

are they cheap and crappy atari?
i would use them for going away, but the noise on the road would be horrible

my tyre guy way quite impressed with the quality of them for a retread, they are a full remold rather than a recap. eg the new rubber goes from bead to bead.

alien when fitted there is very little difference in size & surely not enough difference to blow it out by 4L/100kms 8O

Your motor has to work ALOT harder to get that extra weight moving.

Actually its the tread design that causes the huge increase in fuel use. I experimented with my sierra when i got the silverstone xtremes. same size AT was 5ltr better than the xtremes per 100km's. The big lugs created more air drag and at hwy speeds created more resistance and that needed more throttle to keep speeds.

Was almost no difference around town but when you had to go over 80km/h it really sucked.

Shakes, not disbelieving you, but I look at it this way, even if the tyre was double in weight to "normal" tyres, over all the weight increase is very insignificant.

Add two passengers and you have far more weight, but that will not reduce fuel consumption by 40% or so.

With those tyres on my vit, i used half a tank more fuel on trip up to morgan than i did with my mtr's on on the same trip

i can say that they weigh a metric truckload more than my 31's.

what ever it is, it's almost like driving around with the handbrake on a few clicks, dip the clutch in & it doesn't coast to a stop, it rolls for a bit then stops.

as B4T said around town they were no worse in the way of fuel usage, but on the open road it's pretty bad.

Your motor isn't trying to turn the passengers end over end ;)

b4t has proven me wrong though

Tread pattern, not weight.

as shakes said, rotation mass is a big factor.
