Hey Guys,

Recently on a trip away my voltage regulator failed, well I think it has. I checked the voltage over the battery and it is about +16v when the car is running. I went to the wreckers and found a 1990 barina alternator, it appears to be identical to the 1.3lt sierra one. I then changed the voltage regulator over to my sierra alternator. However it is still charging above 16v, any ideas?? I did not change the rectifier over

The barina regulator might also be stuffed?

Thanks guys,

Dale

Have you checked the sence wire that goes into the altinator for a voltage drop?
I have upgraded mine directly from the battery thru a relay as it had a 2v drop across the factory wiring.

Thanks Guys, yes the second voltage regulator was also stuffed. Grabbed another one from the wreckers and it now works. However it appears I have cooked both my main and dual battery plus the dual battery automatic isolator/charging thing.

All fixed now.
