you will find if you look into adr's that any shackle that is longer, let alone welded too will not pass. how people are saying they are legal has got me stumped. do they provide any documentation? the scissor shackles are standard length when closed and open up almost double thier length, but the don't pivot. they were simple, cheap, worked well and didn't affect handling. they sold out pretty quick. if you do make some don't make em too long. and remember they won't do much without the right shocks and mounts.

pinning for road use is pointless
but if mine was a DD than id get some kind of brace/ plate to stop them shifting side to side (i should do that anyway).

ask the same qusetionon outers and see the results you get.

because the drop shackle sits in normal position and works as per normal untill it flexes and opens up, i cant see any reason not to use them.

for me they alowed me to use the std chassic shackle mount and run FULL RUF (without chassic extention) and gain more wheel travel....
apart from when i get time to go coil front, i cant think of any issues with the drop shackle setup im using and the type of driving i do (altho others will not agree)

Well if you have a decent look, theres no shocks either... this is because the pic was taken BEFORE i had made new shock mounts, and cause of the flex, i had to get different uni's for the front shaft.. just so you know, it now has a front shaft

Sorry mate.. this is the best i can do for ya at the moment. In this pic it isnt on full flex.. when it is, there heaps of load (sideways) on the shackles... so you definatly need heaps of strength!!!!!!!!! As for the springs, i worded it wrong b4.. im only running lux fronts in the rear of the zook... the front springs (where i've got the most flex) is still suzuki. To make the rear springs fit, i cut off the front hanger, and welded a new one into the correct place to match the length of the new spring. I got the hangers off low range off road. Plenty of strength.. their good things. Plus i reinforced it..

sweet.. be interesting to see how ya go with it!!!! Just make sure you get the angle of the shackles sitting nice... not straight up and down, and not to far forward or back.. this was your shackle will still help to absorb some of the shock.. plus your drop shackles will open and shut with out any trouble. If the are to straight up and down.. they probably wont open all the way!!
