Post subject:  suzuki jimny lift kit section
Ok after doing some searching around trying to find people opinions on which jimny kit they prefer, e.g in ride quality, flex quality, and height/ level sits at.

Im finding alot of mixed answers and genral running off topic " which can happen at times :D"

so can everyone who has purchased there lift kit tell us ya
- brand
- height e.g 40mm, 2inch and if it sits level
- ride quality
- flex
- If you needed castor correction
- what size tyres your running?
- do you scrub the guards?
- have you trimmed your bumpers or have you got bullbars and rearbars?

and anyone with pictures even better.

i'll start

TJM springs standard shocks
25mm springs
stiff on road and bouncy off road "prolly due to shocks"
ok flex for using standard shock
would recommend castor correction
235/75/r15 silverstone AT-117
yes on front, does not help that bumper loose. rear only scrubs on full flex
arb ready to go on soon no trimming yet, untill i get a proper lift kit too suit my bar.

I have the OME 40mm lift kit with 215/75 tyres. Ride is much softer than the standard suspension but not too soft for me, good offroad. I have a bull bar but standard rear bumper, no scraping as you would expect.

No caster correction was needed and before I fitted the bigger mud tyres there was absolutely no wobble at any speed. Now I have a slight shimmy between 70 and 80 kph so I am thinking about looking into some additional castor. (got all the wheels balance twice to make sure they were right).

Can't tell you about the flex.

Coils:80mm Tough dog coils with 30 coil spacers in the front.
Shocks: Standard 80mm shocks with shock re-locators in the rear. Custom tough dog shocks in the front.
Ride: Rather firm but what do you expect from 80mm lifted coils?!?!
Flex: Great!
Handling: On road handles better than stock, off-road is great!!
Other suspension bits: 3-deg castor correction bush's and tough dog panhard rods.
Tyres: Bridgestone 235/75 m/t dueler on 15x7 -13 off set rims. Had to do a bit of trimming with stock from bumper(now have xrox bar so no rubbing there any more) and also need trimming along the flare near the door at the front....but i don't have any rubbing with the 30mm spacers in the now :P .

- Jimnybits procomp 3" lift kit, panhards, front radius arms and rear shock relocation brackets.
- total height gain of 3.7 inches front and 3.5 inches rear
- ride is more comfortable than stock on road, and a bit bouncier offroad.
- Happy with the flex, even with the swaybar still in. (yet to try with it out)
- Jimnybits arms are caster corrected, fitted with stock rubber bushes.
- 215/75 tyres
- had scrubbing on the front bumper, solved in 5 minutes with a jigsaw.
- No barwork yet, though I reckon a front bar would help settle the front end down a little bit.

the tough dog kit seem to have some pretty good flex in those pics :D

80mm tough dog kit rear coil retainers and drop out cones as im on the hunt for some long travel shocks
soon to have custom front shocks also
50mm body lift and 15mm coil spacers in the front
tires 31x10.5R15 pro comp xterrain on a 15x8 -13 rim also running 1 inch wheel spacers

iam thinking of getting the 60 or 80 mm lift kit from tough dog but not sure sure witch one yet pretty sure there roughly the same price.

ive got 50mm efs kit, front sits alil lower than rear with no bar, flex is good and rides well, didnt use castor corection and it still feels ok, got the kit for $700 from suspension stuff so good value, would recomend if your only gona run 215s, from experience the tough dogg 80mm is the way to go if ya gonna run 235s

Tough dog 40mm coils

OME 40mm shocks

215/75/15 KM2s on stock steelies.

ARB bullbar

Sits a bit lower at the front, got 20mm spacers on the way.

No trimming, no scrubbing.

Had OME coils but they were not bar rated and sat noticeably lower at the front without the bar.

OME coils also no scrubbing with no trimming and no bullbar.

I find the ride on the tough dog coils too harsh on road and haven't tested off road yet, OME coils were way softer which made them more comfortable on road but a bit soft when cornering at speed.
Flex was great with the OME.

So here's my specs as of yesterday

80mm tuff dog lift to suit car with a bull bar

Custom tuff dog front shocks

30mm coil spacers in the front

Jimny bits front radius arms with super pro bushes and the sway bar removed

I'm running on 215/70r15 atm and will be going 235/75/r15 in a federal m/t later this week

Been reading the forums for a few weeks as I just bought a Jimny.

Thinking the 80mm tough dog lift kit looks good.
Whats the deal with everyone with "custom" TD shocks?
Also are extended brake lines needed at 80mm?

Coming into the wet season up here in Darwin and I might have a bit of water to contend with. A couple of inches would be great to reduce the need of testing the water tightness of the door seals etc. From what I have read, a body lift is off the cards due to airbags??

Im hoping to get a softer ride on road and some raised clearance off.
The std Jimny seems to jump all over the road with a few bumps at 100km/hr. Same road in a Holden Colorado is dead smooth.


Might go for a XROX bar in the near future, are heavy springs needed up front?

also why does everyone use rear shock relocation tabs? Isnt this just reducing clearance and giving a weak spot for possible failure when off road?
