Be fucked they havent, I know of one and I am sure there was even another on here at some point

You obviously cant use the MX5 gearbox cause its a bit unusual but I remember being told combinations of other boxes and van bits gave you a really short manual box

But its a lot of work for once again something that might not be useful

On paper, the Mazda 2 motor looks the goods!

Max. Torque 135Nm @ 4000rpm
Max. Power 76kW @ 6000rpm

1.5L EFI.

Ofcoarse I have no idea if it could be made to work at a reasonable price or not....

If you wanted a mazda motor go for a BPT or something along those lines. The early B series 1.8 in the MX5 only put out 100kw.. A stock BPT is 132?kw and 230ft-lb's...

100kw is probably enough to smash your drivtrain anyway i guess..

Actually I just had a look at that mazda 1.8L, and it looks VERY compact. If you made an adapter to a vitara 5sp, it would be a very nice conversion....

Yep. Short and compact. Things get tight near the chassis rails though, and that would ultimatelt limit how low it could be mounted, but I intend to push it a fair way back into the cab.
