G'Day,

This may be a stupid question, but the fuel tank bash plate bolts directly in the same place as the fuel tank bolt holes...and uses the same bolts that are currently in (holding the fuel tank up (I assume))

This is a job to do that should be done when the tank is empty ? Do you jack up the tank, while you do this ? Or am I completely missing something ?

I bought the plate from that ebay bloke who sells all sorts of Jimny stuff (bars/etc)

Loosen all bolts and remove one fully. Put plate on one bolt then remove another and put plate on that and so on. Will be easier when empty.

Yes you use the same bolts on the fuel tank.

That is the way to do it.

Just undo two bolts, opposite sides, opposite ends so the tank is still held up and fit the bash guard and then you can remove the other two bolts and tighten them all up.

How are the Jimny fuel tank guard design because the tank is wright above the rear drive shaft. I assume they wouldnt make it cover the hole thing, just the left side right?

Just had a look under mine. There's six bolts to hold it in. Four on the left and two on the right of tank.
I would take out the two left side bolts at the rear of the tank.
Screw bolts back in freelie with guard in place, so you can get a spanner in-between the guard nd tank to undo the bolts.
Undo two left side bolts to the front of tank. Then screw them in freely, start doing all four bolts up

The tank will be held in pretty good from the bolts on the right side of the tank. If it drops a bit you would easy hold it up.
I would do it when you have a fairly empty tank as well to make it easier.

I usually do things the hardest way. That's just how it turns out
