The first kid is on the way so we are looking at getting a GV. (keeping the Jimny, selling the Baleno) I am particularly interested in the 5 door SQ420 (rare as hens teeth in SA) My question is about the gearboxes behind the various GV's. Are they the same/different? More specifically, will a box from an H25A GV bolt up to a J20A (or B!!) motor? You can probably see where I am heading with this.

They are different - I don't know if they bolt up, but I doubt it. The FSM shows two 5 speed transmissions, a type 1 which is used on the SQ416/SQ420, and a type 2 used on the SQ625 - the type 2 is quite a bit larger than the type 1. |
