Post subject:  Who to do conversion/what to salvage from Baleno?

Just bought a whole Baleno to do a motor conversion for a SJ80 Sierra.
Is there anyone that is recommended to perform the conversion near Sydney? I don't have the time to do much of the work myself & need an idea of the right direction to go in. PM me if anyone can quote me the work.
Is there is anything that would be worth retaining besides just the obvious stuff needed for the conversion. Wanted to achieve one of either air con/power steer/auto transmission at the same time.
I know the air con, transmission & power steering from the Baleno isn't much use, (besides the compressor) but is there anything else worth keeping?
Also, what might be easy to sell from the car before I dump the carcass at a wreckers?

I'm going to be doing this conversion soon and things I plan to keep for the sierra and or mates, that aren't going straight into the sierra with the engine are:

Power steering pump
A/C Pump
A/C Condenser
Thermo Fans
Fuel Pump
Wheels and Tyres (mate with hatchback)

Now as for selling, I'm going to list it all over the place as wrecking and cheap parts and see what offers I get, mine's pretty straight bar the front left wishbone though so panels can be had.

All of that is dependent on whether I think I'll make more back than just handing it off to a wrecker though.

Oh and I'm going to have a look at whether I can use the Baleno Radiator in the sierra, even if I have to fab up some pipe or something, mainly because of the ease of mounting the baleno thermo fans on it.

Baleno seats can be made to fit a Sierra fairly easily.
Steering wheel also fits Sierra.

Don't bother trying to wreck the remains out. Just take it to the wreckers or scrap yard and get whatever you can for it.

Baleno radiators are too big for sierra's, Even with the steering box on the other side of the chassis..(luxbox)

Any idea which auto shop to get to perform the conversion?
Been looking & can only find the one place.
Or is there only the one place?

Do it yourself, learn something about your car!

Yeah I'm considering it, but I can see that it will probably lead to me hanging myself in my garage.
I'd really like to- but lack the space (living in a unit block) & the time (would take me ages and leave me without the car for too long).

True, I haven't put a tape measure on it yet but from first look it seemed like it could be mounted right forward behind the grille and clear everything.

I guess not though!

I'll just get mine reco'd or a new 1.3 or 1.6 one then.

So far from what I can gather almost nowhere performs motor conversions on Sierras in Sydney.
At least not the whole job. Got a place that can mount the engine, but can't do the water plumbing or wiring.
Perth or Brisbane, getting this done would be easy.

of course there would be somewhere in sydney that does conversions, just go to any real performance shop and they will be more than happy to take your 5 grand for the job, mate do what you can yourself and then get a auto leccy to come and get it wired up and started, mount fuel pumps etc first
