Hi folks I'm just wondering how tuneable the EFI engines for GV's are? Is it possible to tune them in the same way you can tune a diesel with a DP chip? I know that those 'power chip' shite things on fleabay do little more than increase fuel consumption, just wondering whether it's possible to tune the thing to get more low down power.* Can you tune the fuel injection for more low-down mumbo? Is it worth a visit to an EFI tuner? Cheers (sorry if it's a stupid question that's been covered) Pete *note: maybe it's got more to do with me being used to driving an old holden that won't rev past 4,000rpm. (ie learn to live with it) |

I am not sure if the computers are tuneable but if they are you certainly wont get the same gains as a DP chip as they up the boost and fuel on a diesel which always gives more power, its jsut done a different way than the traditional methods on non efi cars |

most computer driven EFI systems can have an after market chip or computer put in to modify them. a cam is another way of getting power where you want it as well & it isn't that expensive. |

I presume you mean from exhaust manifold back? I'd imagine that it'd be hard to source extractors for a GV (if they'd be better than standard). Would a bigger exhaust just give top end as opposed to more lowdown grunt? Does it make that much difference? What have other GV owners done? Do they have the same issue of lack of grunt as me? Like I said in my OP, I'm not sure that it's just a case of me needing to modify the way I drive it (I've always been a 'lugger' not a 'revver' if you know what I mean). Ok answered a question with more questions but keen for any advice... Pete |

ppppffffttt....forget the exhausts....and the chips......change the diff gears, done a few and the customers were amazed. |

In GV's?... What's involved with that Joe? Is it possible for a mechanical retard with bloody-minded determination, limited tools (ie no hoist), some better mechanically minded mates and time on his hands to do? Any idea of approx coin factor and what or where to get some? Cheers Pete |

Can't say I've had too many problems with the amount of power - I've got my 300ZX for speed 
But Diff gears would probably be the best - find an auto, I think they had 4.875 diffs rather than 4.300 in the manual (thats if you don't already have an auto) Then sell me your diff centre so I can stop mine leaking!

I've got some 4.88 gears lying around. Changed to 5.12 so I could fit a locker. I still think an extractor could work. They are available for the 4cyl but I don't think they exist for the V6. How about a turbo
The SX4 rally uses a J20A with a turbo
