I am doing the el falcon alternator upgrade but I still want to keep my engine driven fan and am just putting the standard v pulley on the 110 amp alt I am having trouble getting the v pulley onto the alt I have drilled the pulley and it fits but I need a spacer behind it so it doesn't hit the base and I need it to line up with the other pulleys could you help and give me some advise or tell how you did it or what you used plz |

u can still use your engine fan u just use a pulley off a g16 as the v pulley wont be able to take the strain so your better off getting ribbed |

In order to keep my fan, and use use multirib belt, I needed to use a barina/swift water pump, and the twin crank pulley from same. I needed to have an adaptor made to fit the Sierra fan to the barina/swift pump. No doubt theres other choices. Cant help with your single V belt problem sorry. |

I run a falcon alternator with a single v belt. It slips a little under high load at idle (at around 45amps of delivery- more than most Sierra alternators at peak) but in all honesty it's not a problem. Poly V is definitely the way to go, but finding a 4bolt poly V crank pulley isn't all that easy. Steveo |

Yea it was hard I couldn't find any so I just wut the multi v pulleys on it still need to get the belt |

The 1st Falcon alternator i fitted to mine, i used a 70amp Mitsubishi branded unit from a EB with the std V belt. I used a generic V pulley. These come fitted to a lot of aftermarket alternators and a lot get swapped for the OEM pulley during fitment. A auto sparkey should have some laying around, It did require some clearancing to the rear face of the pulley to clear the alternator casing, 10min in the lathe. The same pulley is now used on the new 85amp Bosch/Falcon alternator thats now on my Sierra. Dosn't noticably slip if the belts tight. |
