Alright... who's done it???

Mines leaking all over my foot again even though i've got the vent mostly covered!!! The drain holes are clean, but behind that plastic bit under the vent's grille i can see is full of leaves, and there's no way i can see of getting in there to clean it.

Has anyone ever managed to get in there and clean it out, cos its driving me nuts!

Mine was cleaned out by a fire but you probably don't want to go to that level. Have you tried sticking compressed air down the drain holes and in through the top from the vent? Normally clears a fair bit of leaves out.

take the drainage pipes off, using a combination of a coat hanger through the top, fingers at the bottom holes and a hose through the top/ bottom will have it cleaned out in no time.

when i rebuilt my ute i put gauze over the top of the vent. no more leaves in my vents..

you talking about the drainage pipes inside the cab right? I've not looked that far up there (hard with a dash in the way).

yep thats them. you'll probably need to pull them out to properly clean it, my one old was clogged so badly a hose wouldnt blow all the crap out
Dont need to look, just get your fingers up there and have a feel

They just pull off. Probably one of the reasons they leak even when clean...

i wonder if those plastic clamps used for reticulation would help them seal better once re-installed?

righto - i took of the rubber hoses on both sides, and while they werent blocked, the box bit they join to on each side was pretty clogged... so i jammed wire up there and rammed it around while flushing water in via a hose in the vent outside... got both sides clean as, reconnected the hoses and gave it a blast with the hose... and low and behold.... THE LEAK IS STILL FUCKING THERE!!! GRRRRRR!

Its only leaking on the drivers side, and its coming from right up the top (can see water up there when i shine a torch up). Its running down the outside of the air hose that goes to the foot heater, as well as splashing up around the top of the dash.

is there another hose or seal of some sort behind the dash that i'm missing here??? (assuming its where the airbox part connects to the vents)? Please dont tell me the dash needs to come out to fix this...

I didnt find any other seals in that area when I did my rebuild. Sounds like the dash will have to come out. also if the cause is a damaged leaf/water catcher; you have to get a replacement from the same model, NT and WTs have different mounts.

hahah!
It would only take 2hours at most to pull it down and put it back together.

Would be a good opportunity to put some mesh over the vent as well!
Dont be lazy!!!
